Nathaniel Tureaud Sr. was born on August 5, 1905, in Louisiana, United States of America. His parents were  William Tureaud and Celina Fyatte Tureaud, and he had one sibling, Sylvanus Tureaud, his brother. Nathaniel Tureaud Sr. had 13 children, namely; Clarence Tureaud Barnes, Laurence Tureaud, famously known as Mr T, Gustave Tero, and others whose names are unknown.

He had three known grandchildren: Lesa Tureaud, Erika Tureaud, and Laurence Tureaud Jr. He worked as a church minister.

Nathaniel Tureaud Sr. married for the first time on September 16, 1985, at the age of 18 years to Lonnie Brown Tureaud. With her, they had one son, Clarence Tureaud-Barnes. He also got into a relationship with Willie Lee Wallace, and they had at least one son, Gustave Tero. Willie Lee died in 2006, aged 87, in Illinois, United States.

It is worth noting that Nathaniel Tureaud Sr. got into other relationships; that is the only thing that can explain his 13 children and the fact that there is no mention of  Laurence Tureaud’s mother.

Nathaniel Tureaud Sr’s Children

As mentioned earlier, Nathaniel had 13 children; most of them, their names or stories have not been mentioned, except Gustave Tero and Mr T.

Gustave Tero, Nathaniel’s son, was born in Illinois on June 21, 1947. He worked as a police officer and was known for the gruelling workouts he put the new police recruits through and for the fact that he could do up to one thousand sit-ups at a time. Nathaniel’s cop son died on April 21, 2000, in Illinois, aged 52.

Mr T- Nathaniel Tureaud Sr’s son

Laurence Tureaud, Nathaniel’s son, famously known as Mr T, was born on May 21, 1952, in Illinois, United States of America. He is an actor and a professional wrestler. As an actor, he has made appearances in many shows such as; The A-Team, Rocky III, I Pity the Fool, Rocky Balboa, and Freaked, among many others.

When Laurence Tureaud was five, his father,  Nathaniel, left, and he decided to shorten his name to Laurence Tero. When he turned 18, he legally changed his name to Laurence T. Mr T  based  his name on his childhood impressions regarding the lack of respect for his family  from white people, and felt people would respect him if the first word uttered by anyone when saying  his name was ‘’Mr.’’

In his education, Mr T attended Dunbar Vocational High school, where he studied martial arts, played football, and wrestled. For his wrestling career, he was a tag-team partner of Hulk Hogan at the World Wrestling Federation’s WrestleMania I, which they won. Nathaniel Tureaud’s son went on to do well in the world of wrestling, and on April  5, 2014, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing.

Nathaniel Tureaud Sr’s son, Mr T, was diagnosed with cancer in 1995, that is, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, and he has often joked about it; funny enough, he has written a book about it, titled “Cancer Saved My Life.’’
