Frisbie Dawson was born on 30 September 1937 in Motu Ko, Pukapuka, in the Cook Islands and her birth name was Ngatokoruaimatauaia. She was named for her mother, Ngatokorua Mataa, whose family was native to Pukapuka. Her father was Robert Dean Frisbie, an author, and a Travel Writer. Her father was originally from Ohio but moved to the South Pacific to write. In his writings, he focused on Polynesia, with his first notable work being The Book of Puka Puka, which is about Pukapuka, a coral atoll located in the Cook Islands. Frisbie has 4 siblings, Charles, Florence “Johnny”, William, and Elaine. Florence “Johnny”, followed in her father’s footsteps by becoming a writer and wrote an autobiography called Miss Ulysses from Puka-Puka: The Autobiography of a South Sea Trader’s Daughter.

Frisbie ‘s mother died in 1939 and her father died in 1948 because of tuberculosis. She was taken to Hawaii by her sister Johnny where she was adopted by Lee & Suemar Dawson. Frisbie met Adam West in the 1950s, during the period of Adam West’s life in which he was living in Hawaii. Adam called her “Nga” for short, and she became known as Nga Frisbie Dawson. She had 2 children with Adam: a daughter named Jonelle S. Anderson, who is a Hollywood production assistant and stunt double, and a son named Hunter Anderson, who is a filmography specialist.

William West Anderson, professionally known as Adam West, was born on September 19, 1928, in Walla Walla, Washington. His father, Otto Anderson, was a farmer descending from Scania in southern Sweden; and his mother, Audrey Volenne (née Speer) was an opera singer and concert pianist who left her Hollywood dreams to care for her family. Adam was married three times. His first marriage was to his college girlfriend Billie Lou Yeager in 1950. The couple divorced six years later. In 1957, he married Frisbie Dawson. They were divorced in 1962. Adam then married Marcelle Tagand Lear in November 1970. Frisbie Dawson died about 31 Mar 2006 and her ex-husband; Adam died of leukemia in Los Angeles on June 9, 2017.
