Seth Durand has been making the headlines since his death. The 22-year-old boy from Roanoke, IL, died in a Grand Ridge Power Line Electrocution accident while installing an aluminum gutter.

Seth Durand was born on August 20, 1999, in LaSalle, IL to Tom and Marsha Brown Durand. He had six siblings named Brittney (Jack) Jones; Brandon Durand; Colton Durand; Rachel (Angel) Torres; Eli Durand; and Amanda Durand. His maternal grandparents are Don and Helen Brown and his paternal grandparents are Donald Durand and Linda Durand.
On 12th July 2022, Seth Durand was one of five workers who were each on aluminum ladders as they were installing an aluminum gutter at a home 1400 block of North 1659th Road. The gutter came into contact with a power line which caused it to become energized. All five workers were electrocuted and fell nearly 25 feet before hitting the ground. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the accident scene to help all the victims. Two workers were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries and three workers were transported in critical condition. Seth Durand spent one week in the hospital, but doctors and medical staff were not able to save him. He was pronounced dead on July 19, 2022.
The forensics stated Durand suffered blunt force injuries to his head and electrical burns. The death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office. Funeral services were held on July 23, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

The Black Partridge Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honored seven Woodford and Marshall County high school seniors at their award program on February 12, 2018, wherein each of the seniors received the “Good Citizen” award. The students were chosen by their high school for their qualities of good character, which the DAR emphasize as being dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Seth Durand was one of the recipients of this award.
